Meditations on Perihelion

"Meditations on Perihelion" is an ongoing immersive presentation featuring full-dome video partnered with live and recorded music. The work is presented in 7 movements that explore the different possibilities of connections between science and art. Performances occur typically around the equinoxes in March and September.

The experience explores the world of science through the world of sound in an immersive multi-media environment. The music and video are informed and inspired by astronomical data and are intended as a starting point for the audience’s imagination. The focus of this iteration has been on the three background cycles (Milankovitch Cycles) that govern our planet’s orbital alignment and seasonal changes.

All performances offer a post-show discussion about individual interpretations of the show, details about construction, and general ideas of arts integration.
